Luc is 6 Months Old Today - January 31, 2007

Happy 1/2 Birthday Baby

I swear I don't know how it happened, but Baby Luc is 1/2 a year old today. Yesterday our nanny made me cry by showing me how Luc can scootch if she lets him use her hands to push off from. He is totally creeping.

Here's what Luc is doing at 6 months:
  • Scootching/Creeping a bit
  • Sitting up on his own very well - can do it for a couple of minutes at a time now
  • Reaches for toys
  • Can sort of take/put back his pacifier himself
  • Starting to protest when a toy is taken away (hilarious)
  • Has most recently fallen in LOVE with his feet (no other toys needed) Can hold onto them and try to eat them for hours
  • Rolls over from time to time
  • EATS: Bananas, Rice Cereal, Sweet Potatoes. Not a fan of carrots or squash so far. Avacados, Green Beans and Apples are next on the list!
  • Sleeps for 12 hours - almost to the minute (its weird...)
  • Hugs :) He starts to put his arms around my neck when facing me - makes me melt

He's really starting to become his own person - and so much fun to play with.

We are still co-sleeping and Luc still feeds at night (2 feedings usually). I've also really started to wear Luc frequently in the moby and am becoming much more interested/advocate of baby-wearing - it's a whole WORLD out there.

Play Dates!

I don't know if Luc is really aware that he's attending play dates - but he is! My friend Maia and her friend Christine have babies 2 months older than Luc - Ava is Maia's little girl and Jaden is Christine's little boy. Here they are hanging out on the play mat together. They kept reaching out to each other while we were taking this pic - too cute!

Almost 4 months old!

Luc is growing so quickly - really starting to have a personality. He loves to stand on laps, and enjoys A LOT of face-to-face interaction. He's figured out that having someone play directly with him is much more fun than playing quietly with his toys on his own. He keeps us on our toes! He has also found his thumb in the past few weeks - and covers his face with the rest of his hand as he sucks away, pretty cute! His newest toy is his jumperoo - which keeps him giggling as he's figuring out how to Jump!

Here's some new pictures of our little guy!

Luc's Baptism!

Last Sunday (October 29th) Luc was baptised at Holy Family Parish! He was an angel, until he was BLESSED with water pouring down his face :) GreatGrandma Sullivan says a screaming baby at baptism is a sign of a holy baby - so we very well may have a future priest on our hands ;) Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers! Luc's Godparents are Cathy and Greg Forinash (Megan's Aunt and Uncle) - Congratulations new Godparents :)

Luc's First Halloween!

Luc was in his chili pepper costume for about 15 minutes - long enough for the photography session at Myrio (thanks Aaron!)

After the pictures, Luc was out of his costume and pretty much done - in bed by 7PM. :) Happy Halloween!

Cousin Caiden's visit in August!
In August, Luc's Grandma Vera, Auntie Pam and Cousin Caiden came to visit. We had a great time - went to see Dad play hockey and did lots of playing around the house.

UPDATE: New favorite thing for Luc: The BUMBO Seat. As soon as baby can hold his head up, he can sit in the Bumbo - it's so fun. He looks like a little adult sitting in it!

Favorite things of a brand new mom....

Written by Luc's Mom, Megan:

I did a favorite things of a pregnant woman a while back, and I thought I'd get a new list going of the things I can't live without as a mom...

1) A Tummy Time Mat! I have the gymini activity gym - Luc is really starting to bat and kick at the toys...

2) A swing - a place for Luc to sleep, a place to plop Luc so I can do some laundry, a place for Luc to sit other than my arms. We have the baby papasan and I'm very happy with it :)

3) Bag Balm - it turns out this is cheaper and works GREAT for diaper change time (not to treat diaper rash but for prevention)...

4) USED receiving blankets...they are the best b/c they are so soft!

5) NUGO bars - great for those 2AM feedings in the beginning when I was starving all the time!! Yummy flavors too - chocolate, vanilla and peanut butter. Tastes like a rice krispie treat with chocolate on top (but they are made with beet juice so they are healthy!)

6) The Boppy Newborn Lounger. Everyone knows about the boppy - but the Lounger ROCKS. We use it for sitting up in, feeding on, propping Luc up for story time, This puppy gets lots of use. A EURO pillow case can fit over it so the fabric doesn't get ruined.

7) I like NUK pacifiers the best - I figured out we need about 10 to make sure we can always find one. Store them everywhere :)

My Graco Metrolite stroller works awesome, so does the Baby Bjorn, the Bouncer, etc - but those are pretty standard :)
